WHAT ARE SOME TASKS OF DAILY LIVING PEOPLE WITH LOW VISION FIND DIFFICULT TO DO:

Reading, driving, seeing faces, preparing food, cooking, telling the difference in clothes, shopping, traveling safely in new places, pouring liquids into glasses or pots, putting on makeup or shaving, finding things which are dropped, going out to restaurants, using cell phones or computers, telling time, and more.

DO YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • The inability to drive a car?
  • Difficulty seeing the screen on a phone?
  • Difficulties with contrast, light tan next to a white floor, grey objects on a dark rug, white plates on a light colored table cloth, etc?
  • Difficulty recognizing people’s faces?
  • Difficulty seeing street signs, numbers or signs on doors?
  • Difficulty seeing the face on a watch?
  • Difficulty reading the print in newspapers or books?
  • Difficulty seeing labels or price tags in stores?

If low vision is not a term you have heard before, then perhaps one of the following alternatives may sound familiar:

legally blind, partially sighted, partially blind.
